Dr. Kalikivayi Mahankali Rao took his Ph.D, at Andhra University, Visakhapatnam, India in 1974. As a philospher, sociologist and professor, Dr Rao is well read, author of several books, articles, he is probably best known for his D.Litt studies on Bhagavad Gita at University of Madras in 2006 in preparing Gita Nairuktikam – a concordance on Bhagavad Gita and other works like Gitarjuniyam, Gita Vakyavritti, Gita Antariksham and upanishad sangraham.Several of his articles have been translated into Telugu and Tamil languages.

Since 1972 Dr.Rao has been professor of philosophy at New College, Madras.
